Do I need form LP2 to register an LPA?
Last updated 22 August 2026
Almost certainly not. Registration is built into the current LP1F and LP1H forms as sections 12 to 15. LP2 is only for legacy forms, and most people searching for it do not need it.
Why the confusion exists
LP2 is sometimes described as the general registration form. That is misleading. For the current LP1F and LP1H forms, registration is built into the form itself as sections 12 to 15. You complete those sections and apply to register as part of the same document.
When LP2 is actually used
LP2 is only used for legacy forms that do not have the registration sections built in. If you are using the current GOV.UK forms, you do not need LP2.
What you do need
If you have named people to notify, you need form LP3 to tell them. If you are claiming a fee exemption or remission, you need form LPA120. You do not need LP2.
